Kagzipura: Reviving Heritage, Shaping Futures

Kagzipura: Reviving Heritage, Shaping Futures

Kagzipura, a historic town nestled between Daulatabad Fort and Ellora Caves, is reclaiming its 700-year-old handmade papermaking legacy through a transformative collaboration between INTACH and Cosmo Foundation. Together, they are building a Model Heritage Village by blending cultural preservation with sustainable development. Cosmo Foundation has installed a Solar Plant for eco-friendly paper production, planted 140 Coconut Trees to prevent soil erosion. Cosmo Foundation has supported the installation of a Chemical-free Water Filtration Facility and constructed a Washing Ghat (Dhobi Ghat) to manage clean water flow thereby reducing pollution. Our Education Program at Kagzipura viz. Foundational Literacy, Computer Literacy, and Basic English programs have significantly boosted school admissions by more than 20%. At the village and school level, CF initiated organizing Awareness drive on hygiene and cleanliness with women and children. Artisans at Kagzipura Handmade Paper mill are continuously receiving trainings and resources to revive this Handmade Paper mill. These efforts are paving the way for Kagzipura to emerge as a vibrant Handmade Paper Hub thereby restoring back cultural pride and sustainable progress.

Health Camps

Health Camps

Cosmo Foundation has made significant strides in improving the well-being of rural communities through a variety of health and medical initiatives. In partnership with private hospitals. It organized large-scale Health Awareness and Check-up Camps in villages across the Karjan and Gangapur Blocks. These camps aimed to educate community members on vital health topics such as nutrition, oral hygiene, and the prevention of common illnesses. In addition to general health check-ups, we conducted eye and dental check-ups camps covering 6441+ students and community members. For those requiring further care, referrals were made for spectacles, eye surgeries, dental treatments, and additional medical support. Our efforts have been highly appreciated by stakeholders, school teachers, and community members. It has strengthened our connection with the rural population and reaffirming our commitment to enhancing health outcomes in these communities.
